54th Texaco Sportstars of the Year Awards 2011 Winners Announced
Eight of Ireland’s leading sports stars have been chosen as winners of the 2011 Texaco Sportstars of the Year Awards in this, the 54th year of the event. Chosen by sports editors representing print and broadcast media, north and south, the full line-up of this year's Texaco Sportstars Award winners is one that reflects the very high levels of success now being achieved by Irish men and women in all sporting disciplines. This year’s winners are:

| Darren Clarke | Golf |
| Willie Mullins | Horse Racing |
| Michael Fennelly | Hurling |
| Sean O’Brien | Rugby |
| Richard Dunne | Soccer |
With the exception of Darren Clarke – a winner on six occasions previously and Richard Dunne -who won it on one occasion previously, all of the remaining six Stars are being honoured with a Texaco Sportstars Award for the very first time.
Commenting, Enda Riney, Country Chairman, Valero Energy (Ireland) Limited congratulated the recipients for the honour that they have brought to Ireland and to their sports, through the success that they have achieved in national and international competitions. ‘Their success has helped keep Ireland at the very centre of the international sporting spotlight and has been an inspiration to the countless numbers of young people who will seek to emulate their success in future years’, Mr. Riney said.
The Awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held in Dublin on Thursday, 8th December. Also being presented on that evening will be the Texaco Hall of Fame Award that goes to a prominent sports personality from the past and the Texaco Young Sportstar Award, both of whose names will be announced shortly.
