Ballygunner GAA Club, Waterford
Ballygunner is one of the most prominent hurling clubs in the country. Over the past decade, it has developed extensive facilities, part of which involved the construction of a hurling alley for use in player training. To enhance this facility and create a surface that will deliver a more even bounce, the club plans to replace the existing grit covering with a new field turf surface. Their success in winning a Texaco Bursary will enable the club to proceed with the work involved.

Bandon Rugby Club
In the past 10 years, Bandon Rugby Club has experienced an almost four-fold growth in youth membership thereby increasing the need for extra playing space. To meet this demand, the club cleared waste land to create a new playing area. With their Texaco Bursary, the club plans to provide and equip two under-12 size pitches, which will accommodate 40 children at a time, and fund the purchase of goal posts, goal pads and flag poles.

Cavan Celtic FC
Founded in 2006, Cavan Celtic FC has grown from one team to seventeen and now has over 220 boys and girls in their junior section and 40 adults in their men’s section. Recent successes include three cups in the U10 category, a league title at U16 and a cup victory at U13 for the 2nd year running. Recently, the club sourced a new 6-acre site on which their home games will be played. Their Texaco Bursary will be used to level and re-seed the playing surface and lay a car park
with the aim of having the pitch playable by next May.

CLG Bord Inis Eoghain
In existence for over 30 years, the Inishowen GAA Board organizes games for under-8 to under-18 age members across seven clubs and five secondary schools in the area. Last year, it was decided to amalgamate the five schools to compete in the Ulster Colleges football competitions. To that end, their Texaco Bursary will be used to help fund the development of a coaching programme.

Castlebar Mitchels GAA Club
The oldest GAA club in Co. Mayo and one of the oldest in the country, Castlebar Mitchels has approximately 400 members ranging in age from under-8 up to senior level. Currently celebrating their 125th anniversary, the club plans to develop a museum to house and display club memorabilia which can be viewed physically and on-line through the use of technology. To this end, their Texaco Bursary will be used to purchase a laptop, scanner, printer, digital photo frames and other display cases,
and to install additional lighting.

Clonaslee Wheelchair Basketball Club
Established in 2004, the club caters for people with physical disabilities. Affiliated to the Irish Wheelchair Association Sport, it has 25 members (junior and senior) who train weekly at the local Community Centre. Their Texaco Bursary will be used to purchase 10 basketball wheelchairs, basketballs, a white board and two portable baskets.

Donore Harriers Athletic Club, Chapelizod
Founded in 1893, Donore Harriers has been committed throughout its history to developing the sport of athletics and to coaching athletes to achieve their potential. It has a membership of over 100 juveniles and a vibrant adult participation. It has won numerous medals at national level and currently has three members competing at World Championship events. Their Texaco Bursary will be used to help fund the purchase of an IAAF-approved high jump landing mat.

Drimnagh Celtic FC
For over 25 years, Drimnagh Celtic Football Club has been to the forefront in fostering an interest in sport amongst young people. Through their efforts, countless young people have been encouraged to focus on sport as an outlet for their energy. Their Texaco Bursary will be used to purchase a new set of nets, tracksuit tops, training bibs, footballs, gear bags and more.

Erin’s Own GAA Club, Castlecomer
Now celebrating their 125th anniversary, Erin’s Own is the largest sporting organization in North Kilkenny, with 400 adult and 200 youth members. In progress is a plan to complete work started five years ago designed to improve the entrance to their ground. Their Texaco Bursary will be used to fund
the laying of a new tarmac surface and other improvements.

Kinnegad Juniors AFC
Kinnegad Juniors AFC provides a social outlet for children and a focus point for parents who come to support their young while playing there each weekend. Shortly, the club will move from the local community centre to their own pitch having successfully raised finance to purchase a suitable ground with car park and dressing rooms. Amongst other things, their Texaco Bursary will be used to provide a second pitch on the ground.

Larkspur Park Tennis Club, Cashel
Larkspur Park Tennis Club is a multifunctional club that provides sport and recreational facilities to the people of Cashel. With a membership in excess of 300, its activities include tennis, pitch & putt, badminton, squash, dancing, taekwondo, bowls and unislim. Their Texaco Bursary will be used to update and overhaul the lighting system on the tennis courts – an undertaking that will be of benefit to members and the special students of Scoil Chormaic, who have use of the courts.

Midleton Cricket Club, Cork 
Located within the Midleton College grounds close to Cork city, Midleton Cricket Club has two teams in the Munster Cricket Union along with junior teams at U17, U15 and U13. Currently, the club is experiencing a growth in the number young people coming to test their cricket skills, driven by an increase in the popularity of cricket and the arrival into the area of enthusiasts from such cricket-playing countries as India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Their Texaco Bursary will be used to lay an artificial cricket pitch and improve training facilities.

Passage West GAA Club
Based at Manning Park, close to Cork city, Passage West GAA Club has recently expanded its playing facilities by building a new pitch which caters for up to 400 boys and girls who frequent the premises on a weekly basis. Inspired by the need to maintain their 13 acres facility in manicured condition, the club plans to use their Texaco Bursary to purchase new grass cutting equipment.

Sligo Rovers FC
Sligo Rovers Football Club is a community based, not-for-profit club that caters for huge numbers of children through its soccer camps, teams and coaching clinics. With over 5,000 children having attending its recent summer camp, their Texaco Bursary will help fund on-going development – work that will include the refurbishment of over 2,000 square feet of buildings, the installation of new showers and changing facilities for their all-weather pitch and the provision of space for meetings, prize-giving ceremonies and use by the local community.

St. Coca’s Athletic Club, Kilcock, Co Kildare
Founded over 30 years ago, St. Coca’s Athletic Club has over 150 members drawn from the wider North Kildare community. In recent times, the club has been a consistent performer at county, provincial and national level, with a number of its athletes having gone on to represent their country. Recently the club acquired a prefabricated unit that they plan to convert to changing rooms with toilets and a
meeting room. Their Texaco Bursary will help fund the building work required.

St. Patrick’s GFC, Tullow
Founded in 1888, the club has a proud tradition in fostering inter-county players, producing many great teams and championship victories in football and hurling. Keen to be part of Carlow's ongoing success at hurling, their Texaco Bursary will help fund the construction of a hurling wall that will provide a safe, all-weather training environment that will allow players to improve their skill levels.

Speisialta Special Needs Club, Clondalkin
Speisialta Special Needs Club is based at St. John’s Crescent, Clondalkin. Affiliated to Special Olympics Ireland, the club is managed by a group of just 50 volunteers who offer training in badminton and football backed by a programme of social activities to over 200 members. Their Texaco Bursary will go towards helping the club as it embarks on an ambitious development that includes the recruitment of athletes
and volunteers, the production of a web site, the introduction of Bocce as a third sport and
the publication of a cohesive handbook.

Tommie Larkins GAA Club, Woodford, Loughrea
Established in 1968, the Tommie Larkins GAA Club story has been one of success at all levels. In 1971, their senior hurling team won the Galway county title. Over the past two decades, they have been one of the strongest hurling clubs at underage level in Galway, winning several titles at under-12, 14 and 16, including two Feile titles. Their Texaco Bursary will be used to help fund construct a hurling wall - work that will include all site works, safety surfacing and fencing, all of which they
hope to complete in time for the 2011 season.

Tralee Rowing Club, Fenit
Founded just six years ago, Tralee Rowing Club is a young, progressive club that regularly competes in regattas throughout Ireland. In boys and girls categories, from ages 14 to18 years, the club has achieved considerable success, winning medals against the more established rowing clubs. Their Texaco
Bursary will be used to purchase a new purpose-built replacement trailer to be used when
transporting boats to regattas countrywide.

Trojan Swimming Club, Blackrock, Dublin
Over the years, this successful club has produced some of Ireland’s top swimmers – stars that include Gary O’Toole, Donal O’Neill, Liz Cosgrave and Nuala Murphy. All have represented Ireland at world level as well as helping the club to achieve a number of Irish team records. Their Texaco Bursary will be used to purchase a swim bench and timing clocks and to fund long course training at the National Aquatic Centre 50m pool – a facility essential for swimmers aspiring to compete at the top level.

Cushendall Sailing and Boating Club, Antrim
Established in 1961, Cushendall Sailing and Boating Club is one of the largest sailing clubs on the North Antrim coast. Designated a Volvo Championship Club, it is recognised by the Royal Yachting Association for its work in sail training and for its success in developing championship winning squads.
Their Texaco Bursary will go towards the purchase of a modified Access 303 wide
dinghy for teaching children with physical disabilities.

Dungannon Rugby Club
The only Ulster rugby club competing in division one of the All Ireland league, Dungannon Rugby Club fields four adult sides whilst catering for mini and youth leagues with plans to extend into women’s and special needs rugby. Having identified technology as a vital element in providing visual feedback and in transferring knowledge from coaches to players, their Texaco Bursary will be used to purchase high-tech aids such as a camcorder and laptops.

Mossley Ladies Hockey Club, Newtownabbey
A community-focused organization accessible to all, Mossley Ladies Hockey Club is currently joined with the Ulster Camogie Council in an innovative cross-community project. Under the scheme, 30 girls all under-16 years - 15 from Mossley and 15 from St Enda's and Bredagh Camogie clubs - share each other's sport approximately twice a month. To further this project, their Texaco Bursary will be
used to purchase new equipment, invest in coaching qualifications and cover on-going costs
such as pitch hire and registrations.

Ridgeway Rovers FC, Dundonald
Formed in 2003, Ridgeway Rovers is the fastest growing junior football club in the greater Belfast region. Twice weekly, the club turns out ten squads for matches and training from a membership of 180 children. Two years ago, the club gained sole use of a previously under-utilised pitch on the outskirts of Dundonald. Their Texaco Bursary will enable the club to develop the site and erect secure boundary fencing along the entire length of the ground which borders the busy Comber Road.

Twisters Gymnastics Club, Derry
Established in 2003, this club offers classes to all ages and caters for all levels and abilities. Two of the club’s top team gymnasts have been selected for the Northern Ireland development squad currently in training for the 2016 Olympics. Their Texaco Bursary will be used to purchase an air track - an inflatable tumbling track that provides a safe teaching environment in which gymnasts can hone their skills with greater confidence.

Ballybrack FC
The club has 300 members with teams from 4 - 5 years of age and upwards. A weekly feature of their activities is a Friday night ‘soccer blitz’ for 10 - 14 year olds devised as part of the club’s strategy to provide a positive outlet for young people in the area. The bursary will be used to fund the re-roofing of their clubhouse so that they bring the facility back into full operation.

Castleconnell Boat Club
Pioneering work in the area of inclusion has been done by the club through adaptive rowing programmes. In the past two years, over 80 people with disabilities have been helped in this way. The Bursary will help provide five adapted indoor rowing machines, doubling the number of adaptive rowers the club can accommodate.

Celbridge Paddlers Canoe Club
With over 120 members ranging in age from 10 to over 60, the club has been in existence since 1982. As a consequence, the Bursary will help replace the plastic general purpose kayaks, some of which are not repairable to the club's safety standards.

Church of Ireland Hockey Club, Cork
This old established club has 280 under-15 girls learning to play hockey. The Bursary will be used to purchase goal keeping gear, which is essential for safety reasons and to improve the players' skills.

Clonmel Town FC
Formed in 1963, the club is one of the most successful junior and schoolboy clubs in Ireland, winning the FAI Junior Cup in 1994 and the Munster Junior Cup on three occasions - 1968, 1986 and 2006. Weekly, the club fields over 360 young players in various team competitions.  Their bursary will be used to underpin their development, promote the game amongst young players in the town, fund the purchase of new equipment and assist with travel costs.

Courceys Athletic Club  
Based at Garrettstown, Ballinspittle, Co Cork, the club has a tradition in long jumping, with former club member Tim Harrington the current All-Ireland junior long and triple jump champion. The Bursary will be used to build a long jump run-up and pit.

Crossabeg/Ballymurn Ladies Gaelic Football, Wexford
Founded in 2003, the club is expanding every year and currently has the most registered members in Co Wexford, approaching 200. The Bursary will enable the club to acquire new sets of jerseys as the present sets are six years old. It will also help to hire a coach to help develop the players' skills.

Curragh Nomads Gymnastics Club
From Geashill, Co. Offaly, the club's name reflects the fact that, while its activities are centred around the Curragh, the members travel from Offaly, Laois and Kildare to train together. Due to a lack of equipment, the club's gymnasts have only been able to participate in four out of a possible six disciplines at level four, and yet were awarded seven medals. The Bursary will help purchase rings and essential support apparatus to allow competitors to progress to a more advanced competition level.

Drimnagh Amateur Boxing and Physical Culture Club
With increased facilities for five-aside soccer and basketball, membership of the famed boxing section is closed until new changing, shower and toilet facilities become available. The Texaco bursary will help to fund these and allow the club to enrol new boxing talent.

Ennis Swimming and Lifesaving Club
The club has 257 members in training and almost 120 children on a waiting list. The Bursary will supply extra pool hours so that these children will no longer be denied the opportunity to
develop their swimming skills.

Four Corners Boxing Club, Roscommon
The club's name refers to the multicultural and integrated nature of its ethos, with membership embracing the traveller and settled communities, and non-nationals from Chechnya, Brazil and Britain. The Bursary will be used to purchase training equipment as the present equipment is lacking both in quality and quantity for the members' requirements.

Garrymore GAA Club, Claremorris
The club is based in an area without church, pub or town, yet it continues to provide excellent talent to the county minor team, including two on the panel that reached this year's All-Ireland final. The Bursary will be used to provide coaching equipment and gear for the continuing development of the club's young players.

Green Giants Basketball Club
Based at Limerick Institute of Technology, this club, which was set up last year, is providing an avenue of integration for young asylum seekers into the local community. Currently there are over 500 asylum seekers mainly in the 14-35 age bracket, with no meaningful outlet for their time. This Bursary will help these naturally talented players fulfil their potential.

Iomanaíochta Bearna-Na Forbacha
Although failing to win a game in their first three years, the club has gone from success to success since. The Bursary will help fund the installation of a roof and lighting at the club's ball alley so that hurling and camogie members can avail of the facility in all weather conditions throughout the year.

Killester Basketball Club
With over 500 youth and adult members, the club has an ambitious programme aimed at providing training for coaches, referees and table officials together with instruction in first aid and the development of plans for 6 -11 year olds. Their bursary will be used to fund the purchase of portable basketball stands and other items of playing equipment.

Maree Basketball Club, Oranmore
With the club expanding - 276 players last season - it is having trouble covering all teams with coaches. With the Bursary a qualified coach instructor will be hired to bring the club's
aspiring coaches up to the mark.

St Peter's Athletic Club
Based at Dromiskin, near Dundalk, the club has a fine record in technical events. To build on that the Bursary will help provide starting blocks, training hurdles, a high jump landing area, an indoor shot circle, javelin balls, measuring tapes, speed hurdles and medicine balls.

Tallaght Martial Arts
A club which enjoyed success - 3 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze at the European junior championships in Croatia this year - is anxious to cater for people with disabilities. The Bursary will help obtain adapted training and safety equipment, mats, head guards, focus pads, kick shields, etc., which will enable it to put this programme in place.

Trim Arch Club
Founded 11 years ago and previously known as the Trim Special Sports Club, this voluntary group assists young people with special needs to develop their social skills, self esteem and confidence through sporting activities such as basketball, bowling, football, tennis and dance. Their bursary will be used to purchase sports equipment and to fund an activity weekend.

Walkinstown Association Special Olympics Club
Formed in 2006, the members participate in soccer, table tennis, bocce, equestrian, bowling and swimming, with pitch and putt and badminton coming on stream. The Bursary will fund table tennis tables and soccer kit, replacing second hand donations which have served their purpose.

City of Derry Rugby Club Juniors
While Limerick, a city of comparable size, has six senior clubs, Derry has just the one and they have been promoting the game under trying circumstances for the past 40 years. Recognising that youth is the future of the club, the Bursary will go towards upskilling coaches at all levels, maintaining a bus service for youth players and delivering structured development programmes in all schools for students and staff.

Cliftonville Cricket Club
Having lost its ground at the height of the Troubles, the club has led a nomadic existence, but has now settled in a Belfast City Council ground at Mallusk. The Bursary will help provide a practice net on wheels and a bright, visible and functional scoreboard, both of which are essential to the development of the game.

Pan-Disability Lisburn Badminton Club
Founded in 2007 and believed to be the only pan-disability club of its kind in Ireland, the club exists to provide the means whereby people with physical, sensory and learning disabilities can develop their skills through badminton. Since they were founded, they have had players present at every four-nations disabled badminton event - a proud achievement which the club intends to continue by using their bursary to fund the travel costs involved.

Portadown Amateur Swimming Club
Two years ago, the club had six coaches, but now it has 23 coaches and 160 members. Naturally to support the new structure, the club needs to hire more pool time at the Cascades Leisure Complex from Craigavon Borough Council. The Bursary will assist in this and also in child protection training for coaches.

St Brigid GAC
Based at Cloughmills, Ballymena, St. Brigid’s is a small, rural hurling club which opened its own pitch three years ago. At present they lack electricity in their changing rooms. Commercial Rowing Club, Islandbridge, Dublin 8
High profile, successful club, both nationally & internationally, with membership across all ages (200 members in total, 100 of these under 18). Probably the most successful boat club in Ireland, winning seven championships in 2007. Swelling membership means the need for extra rowing equipment.  Bursary to be used to purchase ergometers/rowing machines which would allow training when days are too short and conditions too inclement to do water work.

Bayside Gymnastics Club, Kilbarrack, Dublin 5
Community driven club catering for able & disabled membership. Only fully integrated gymnastic club, catering for able-bodied children and young adults as well as those with physical, learning, sensory or trauma related disabilities. Bursary to be used to train new coaches and purchase equipment & resource material.

Jobstown Celtic Football Club, Tallaght, Dublin 24
Club caters for children from the disadvantaged area of Tallaght. As little financial support is available from the parents of the children, the club is entirely dependent on sponsorship. Bursary to be used to start new teams, upgrade training facilities, train new coaches and cover transport costs to/from matches.

Major community sports cum athletics club. Winner of Best Area of Participation in the Community Games for the past three years. Bursary to be used to purchase high jump mat and steel container, which would offer storage & toilet facilities and possibly even indoor training facilities.

Ballingarry-Granagh Community Games, Ballingarry, Co. Limerick
Small community-based voluntary organisation that caters for all age groups and all sports, especially children aged 6 to 17 years. Aim to provide children with opportunities to develop in a safe environment through experiencing a wide range of sporting and cultural activities. Bursary to be used to purchase equipment and cover transport costs.

Kilmacsimon Swimming & Rowing Club, Co. Cork
Small rural swimming/rowing club catering for 80 members under 18 years with interesting development plans. 2007 was best sporting year to date. To encourage and motivate members, better equipment and facilities are needed.  Bursary to be used to make entrance to recently purchased site, level the site and purchase and install two large storage containers.

Kiltimagh Special Olympics Network, Kiltimagh, Co Mayo
Club has built first purpose built bocce court in Ireland. Member recently won World title at Special Olympics. Three club members went to China to the World Games where Gary Diamond won a gold medal in bocce.  Bursary will be used to finance second court.

St. Killian's Athletic Club, Kitestown, Crossabeg, Co. Wexford           
Newly formed athletics club in a fast growing area with extensive plans for under age coaching. Has 118 registered members. Bursary to be used to purchase essential equipment.

Pearse Og Hurling Club, Carlingford, Co. Louth
Located in a non-hurling area, the club operates in a small county dominated by football clubs where it is difficult to maintain support for hurling. Bursary to be used to finance new equipment and transport costs.

Donegal Community Games, Correnagh, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal
Club offers 50 different types of sports. It encourages and helps children to become active in sport and culture. Organises about 50 different types of sports at area and county level in which over 2,000 children were involved in 2007. Bursary to be used to finance county tracksuits, fund coaching courses and subsidise transport costs. Full county will benefit from bursary.

 
Northern Ireland

Ballymena & Antrim Athletic Club, Ballymena, Co. Antrim
High profile athletics club with 200 members that acts as an extended family and a vital part of a divided community. Bursary will provide financial help to potential young stars for a specific need in their development.

Andersonstown Basketball Club, Belfast
New club founded in June 2006 with interesting ambitions who need equipment badly. Had hoped to enter 2/3 teams in Ulster League basketball and ended up with 11 teams entered. Three members recently made selection to the Ulster Squad.  Provides outlet which is fun, safe and where kids can meet new friends.  Bursary to be used for equipment and to broaden coaching base.

Pearse Og Gaelic Football Club, Armagh
Club based in West Armagh with reputation for developing people, not just athletes. Majority of membership from one of the most disadvantaged areas in Northern Ireland. Bursary to be used to finance additional equipment.
