The Texaco Sportstars Awards is the longest-running commercial sponsorship in Irish sports history. Developed in 1958, the Awards recognize and honour the achievements of Irish sportsmen and sportswomen across all sport and 2009 marks their 52nd anniversary.
Names such as Christy O'Connor Jnr., Sonia O'Sullivan, Seán Kelly, George Best, Darren Clarke and Brian O'Driscoll are prior recipients to these prestigious awards.
The 52nd Texaco Sportstars Awards were presented in the Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin on Thursday, 19th November 2009 by An Tánaiste, Mary Coughlan, TD.
