Waterford’s Texaco-branded motorpoint station back to full-scale operation after €1m rebuild

DUBLIN, IRELAND 20 February 2007 - The Texaco-branded Motorpoint service station on Military Road, Waterford is back to full scale operations following completion of a €1million rebuild that has seen it transformed into one of the leading outlets in the Texaco network and one of the busiest in Waterford City.

The knockdown and rebuild project, carried out over a 12-month period, was completed in two phases beginning with the installation of new underground tanks and ancillary services which was completed last year. This was followed by a second phase of construction involving the complete redevelopment of the site.

Work included the building of a completely new forecourt comprising three service islands with four pumps per island, an extended overhead canopy and two car wash bays along with the construction and fitting out of a modern convenience store trading under the Musgrave-owned Daybreak brand.

The outlet is managed by Waterford-born Brian Matthews who returned to Waterford from London some 13 years ago to take over management at the station. It has a staff of 12 persons and is open 18 hours a day, year-round.
